Men’s Basketball Championship 1st/2nd Rounds
Tickets for the first and second rounds of the 2018 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship at the Spectrum Center hosted by the Charlotte 49ers athletic department are on sale now. The first and second rounds of the 2018 NCAA Tournament will be played at the Spectrum Center, March 16 & 18. Fans wishing to buy tickets to the First Four, first- and second-round games, or regional competition should go to ncaa.com/mbbtickets.
This will be the fourth time that the Spectrum Center has been a site for the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. In 2011 and 2015, the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament were played at the Spectrum Center. In 2008, the NCAA Regionals were played at the Spectrum Center. This will be the 23rd time that the city of Charlotte has been a site for the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament highlighted by the 1994 Final Four which was played at the Charlotte Coliseum.
The 2018 championship begins Tuesday and Wednesday nights, March 13-14, with the First Four — four games in Dayton, Ohio. First- and second-round action takes place Thursday and Saturday, March 15 and 17, in Pittsburgh; Wichita, Kansas; Dallas; and Boise, Idaho. Cities hosting first- and second-round games Friday and Sunday, March 16 and 18, are Charlotte, North Carolina; Detroit; Nashville, Tennessee; and San Diego.
On Thursday and Saturday, March 22 and 24, Atlanta will serve as the South Regional site, and Los Angeles will host the West Regional. On Friday and Sunday, March 23 and 25, Omaha, Nebraska, will be the site for the Midwest Regional, and Boston will host the East Regional.
“With 13 cities from all over the country hosting preliminary rounds of the tournament, fans have the opportunity to experience one of the best sporting events in the world,” said Dan Gavitt, the NCAA’s senior vice president of basketball. “While the start of the season is just a matter of days away, it’s never too early to get excited about March Madness, so we urge fans to get your tickets now.”
The 80th NCAA Men’s Final Four will be hosted March 31 and April 2 by the University of Texas at San Antonio. Fans looking to attend the games at the Alamodome in San Antonio can purchase The NCAA Experience premium ticket and hospitality packages from PrimeSport by visiting ncaa.com/vip. The NCAA Experience provides college basketball fans with the opportunity to experience the NCAA Final Four in style. Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) today unveiled updated plans and renderings for the second phase of its Re!magine Spectrum Center arena renovation project, with construction recommencing earlier this month following the conclusion of the 2025-26 NBA season. The extensive two-phased renovation project – which includes a range of significant highly visible and back-of-house upgrades – began in May 2024 and will result in a transformed arena. Spectrum Center will reopen its doors to tip off the NBA season as well as celebrate its 20th anniversary in October 2025. -
