The 2018 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament returns to Spectrum Center in 2018.
Founded in 1912, the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) is the first African American athletic conference and one of the most recognized conferences in Division II. The CIAA conducts 16 championships attended by more than 150,000 fans from around the country. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, the CIAA is governed by the Presidents and Chancellors of its 12 member-institutions: Bowie State University, Chowan University, Elizabeth City State University, Fayetteville State University, Johnson C. Smith University, The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, Livingstone College, Saint Augustine’s University, Shaw University, Virginia State University, Virginia Union University and Winston-Salem State University. Friday, March 2, 2018 – Men’s and Women’s Semifinals
Saturday, March 3, 2018 – Men’s and Women’s Finals
Games on Tuesday, February 27 (Men’s and Women’s First Round), and Wednesday, February 28 (Men’s First Round and Women’s Quarterfinals), will be played at Bojangles’ Coliseum.

Spectrum Center Named Finalist For 2026 Sports Facility Of The Year
Spectrum Center’s recent transformation is earning recognition on the national stage. The home of the Charlotte Hornets has been named a finalist for the Sports Business Journal’s 2026 Sports Facility of the Year award - one of the sports and entertainment industry’s highest honors. The Sports Facility of the Year award recognizes excellence in venue design, functionality and overall guest experience across both new construction projects and renovated arenas. Spectrum Center joins an elite group of nominees that includes Crypto.com Arena (Los Angeles), Lindner Family Tennis Center (Cincinnati), MetLife Stadium (East Rutherford, N.J.), Petco Park (San Diego) and Progressive Field (Cleveland). -

Ball Saves Season With Game-Winning Layup, Hornets Top Miami In Play-In Thriller
